It is really difficult to get children to brush their teeth. A good portion of raw, crunchy vegetables each day will both help keep your child's mouth healthier and their body in optimal condition as well.

Foods that Contain Calcium are Helpful

To maintain a healthy set of teeth, the body needs plenty of calcium. Teeth are made of calcium, and in a young child, teeth are still developing. With adequate amounts of calcium in their diet, your children will create strong teeth that will remain decay-free with solid oral care.

Vitamin C is Essential for Gum Health

Gum health is important for your overall oral health, and Vitamin C helps to support healthy gums. This is because Vitamin C helps increase circulation, which in the gum tissue is important for health and healing. Foods that contain Vitamin C include citrus, dark, leafy green vegetables, peppers, and strawberries. While Vitamin C can be found in other foods as well, these foods have some of the highest concentrations of Vitamin C for good, strong gums. 

Be careful to avoid too much citrus, as citric acid can erode the enamel on the teeth, causing sensitivity and possible cavity development.

Have Your Child Drink Plenty of Water

Another way to increase the overall health of your child's mouth and teeth is to get them to drink plenty of water throughout the day. Water will clean the teeth, rinse out the mouth, and not allow foods or other sticky substances to stick to the teeth. When food is left on the teeth, it quickly begins to erode the enamel. By drinking water, your child will wash away unwanted food particles and give their gums a dose of much needed hydration.
